Is Easter over?

The entire season of Lent is punctuated with the exclamation point of Easter.  The week leading up to the “big day” (known as Holy Week) is one of the times of year that requires a lot of energy from many people in the congregation.  Among those is the pastor.  Sometimes it feels as though I want to pretend that I’m a groundhog in Pennsylvania and that I’ve seen my shadow.  Sometimes I want to bury my head back underground and only come out when the hubbub and hype(?) of Easter is over.

But, I wonder… is Easter ever over?

No, not really.  We live in an Easter world.  And, we would do well to live Easter lives.  We don’t need to hide behind the doors and walls of our sanctuaries anymore.  Christ is risen.  And, Jesus calls us out into the world to find God.

As we Easter together, I hope (and pray) that you’ll join us this coming Sunday as we explore the implications of Jesus’ question to Peter, “Do you love me?”  How would we respond if Jesus asked us that today?

Easter Blessings!
